Learning Evidence Team

Welcome to the Learning Evidence Team Web Site! This team will help the College answer the question, "How do we know our students are learning?" The Learning Evidence Team was formed in January 2004 and began meeting in February 2004. Its task is to create a culture of evidence regarding the assessment of learning outcomes at Valencia.

  • Foster a "culture of evidence" at the college by answering two key questions: What do we mean by evidence of student learning? and how will we document this evidence?
  • Articulate a philosophy of assessment of student learning that will provide direction for the College in creating a coordinated program of learning centered on our core competencies.
  • Envision a long-term plan for the implementation and documentation of learning outcomes (based on a philosophy of student assessment and on our core competencies) that will bring coordination to the program of learning at the College, that will inform curricular change, and that will improve learning at the College.

Through collaboration, the Team has defined its principles and procedures. Among these are to concentrate on significant questions, to utilize scholarly research, and to employ the standards of the scholarship of teaching and learning. To read more about these, click here.
