A Raisin in the Sun
Wednesday February 15, 2012 - Sunday February 26, 2012
By Lorraine Hansberry

The New York Times calls RAISIN "a play that changed American Theater forever." The drama is the story of an African American family in the 1950's, waiting for an inheritance check to come in the mail. Multiple generations of this family are crowded into a very small apartment with a shared bathroom, and the matriarch of the family has planned for Decades to get the family out of these circumstances. Various family members have different and conflicting designs on the Money that's coming, and this causes rash and dramatic actions. But in the end, there is hope.

Tuesday April 3, 2012 - Saturday April 7, 2012

The winner of our 21st annual Florida Playwright Competition, MOUNTAIN ROSE, The Ballad of Rose Anna McCoy, by Stephen DeWoody, takes place in the 1880's in the rugged terrain of Appalachia, and involves members of the famous feuding families, the Hatfields and the McCoys. Based on true events, the play begins as what seems to be a simple 'Romeo and Juliet' story, but it quickly becomes even darker and more complicated.

By Moises Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project

In October 1998 Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die, tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. Five weeks later, Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie, and over the course of the next year, conducted more than 200 interviews with people of the town. From these interviews they wrote the play The Laramie Project, a chronicle of the life of the town of Laramie in the year after the murder.
