Note: The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is a selective admission, limited enrollment program.

Program Description

If you're fascinated by the inner workings of the human body, then consider becoming a sonographer. When a doctor needs to check out a patient's organs such as the liver, it is the sonographer who provides the images by transmitting high frequency sound waves into the patient's body via ultrasound. You may also get to share in an experience most people remember for a lifetime - providing the first glimpse of an expectant mother's unborn child.

  • Careers: Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or Ultrasound Technologist
  • Employers: A variety of exciting career opportunities are available for sonographers. They may work in physicians' offices, diagnostic imaging centers, ambulatory care facilities, research facilities, and hospitals in trauma/emergency and intensive/critical care settings.
