PERT

  • The PERT will assess your content knowledge in reading, sentence skills, and mathematics. Click here for a free study guide.
  • Each subsection of the PERT consists of 30 questions, projected time frame per subtest is 45 minutes.
  • Tests are adminsitered on a walk-in basis at Assessment Center locations. See hours and locations for details.
  • There is a $10 retake fee per subtest of the PERT.
  • There are ways to be exempt from the PERT,
    • take the SAT-1, Enhanced ACT, or CPT (within the last 24 months), and earned scores that places you in college level courses according to the placement chart.
    • have college-level coursework in English or mathematics with a "C" or better from a regionally accredited institution.

Retakes

  • A student may retake the placement test once in a 24 month rolling period.
  • Students must wait 1 day between PERT retakes.
  • PERT review is required.
  • $10 retake fee applies per subtest. (non-refundable).
  • A student is eligible for a retake if he/she:
    • has only tested once within the last 24 months.
    • has not begun the prep coursework in the subject area.
    • previous test scores are over two years old.
    • previous prep coursework is over two years old.

Preparation

  • You are encouraged to prepare for the PERT so that the test accurately reflects your placement in English, reading, and mathematics.
  • There is a $10 retake fee per subsection of the PERT.
