An Introduction to Servant Leadership
for Criminal Justice Professionals
Friday, May 3rd, 8am-4pm
CJI Classroom 148
This 7 hour seminar introduces the philosophy of Servant Leadership. While Servant Leadership has become a recognized philosophy since the writings of Robert Greenleaf's "Servant as Leader" essay in 1970, you will learn that servant leadership has been around for centuries. This seminar will identify important characteristics of servant leaders and explain why they are so successful. Learn how servant leaders help others meet their highest priority development needs. How can you argue with a philosophy that encourages people to become their best and achieve the best results for their organization?
Hear how servant lead companies outperformed Jim Collins, spectacularly performing "Good to Great" companies by 6.7%. Learn why Herb Kelleher and Southwest Airlines are so successful, how Howard Behar influenced Starbucks Coffee's incredible public appeal, why Sam Walton as the worlds second richest billionaire in 1991, drove a 1979 Ford F-150. What does servant leadership have to do with the culture of Valencia College and what is the relationship to Valencia receiving the Aspen Prize in 2011, recognizing Valencia as the Top US Community College out of 1,200. If you have yearning to serve, as opposed to wanting power, fame or wealth, this seminar is for you!

Eating a diet of vegetables, fresh fruits, legumes, and complex carbs (whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, and oats) will not only help you avoid the diseases which are killing more Americans than ever before, but will help you lose unwanted weight and will just make you feel better! If you are interested in learning more about a diet rich in health-giving nutrients and are interested in learning how you can live a healthy, disease free life, consider attending an information session with Dr. Christina Hardin, who holds a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University. Read about the work she has done and the success stories from several adopters of the plant-based diet: http://engine2diet.com/success-stories/three-amazing-plant-strong-stories/.
Testimonial
After attending Christina's presentation in June of last year, I joined the plant based movement and lost 80 pounds in 6 months. Once I switched to a plant based diet, the pounds dramatically began to drop and the amazing thing is that I was not starving myself... I was just eating the right foods. I was off my cholesterol medicine within the first three months. You'll be amazed how some simple dietary adjustments can make a huge difference... and Dr. Christina Hardin explains it all in simple terms by narrating a very profound audio-video presentation.

'Motivation 3.0'
Motivating People in the Information Age:
Why Industrial Era Managers Can't Motivate Today's Workforce!
Friday, June 7th, 8am to 3pm
CJI Auditorium
This 6 hour seminar titled "Motivation 3.0" is based on surprising research about what really motivates people. As it turns out, most people are basing their leadership and management styles on outdated motivational theories, which are based on Industrial Era work environments. Today's dynamic work environments require a totally different set of circumstances for employees and organization to achieve the greatest results and allow employees to enjoy high levels of job satisfaction. This seminar is based on Dan Pink's book DRiVE and other current research relating to motivating employees and yourself in the Information Age.
