Course Schedule - Learning Partners: Peer Observation of Teaching
Peer Observation of Teaching is a conducted in a two course sequence. First, a two-hour orientation course (PRFC 3364, 2 PD hours) will cover procedures and pair up particpants for observations. Afterwards, partners will conduct peer observations (PRFC 3365, 8 PD hours) by attending one preliminary meeting, the observations, and one debriefing meeting. Participants will receive 10 hours of professional development credit for completing the entire process.
PRFC 3364 - Peer Observation of Teaching Orientation
This course provides a structured framework for the peer observation of teaching. The focus is on sharing best practices and
promoting a greater sense of collegiality, leading to improved teaching and student learning. In this small, hands-on course,
participants will learn about the peer observation process, practice conducting classroom observations, and select an observation
partner or team. Each pair or team will determine its observation schedule and conduct those observations by the end of the
current
term. 2 PD hours.
PRFC 3365 - Peer Observation of Teaching
Participants in this course will observe a faculty member’s classroom and
will be observed by another faculty member using the peer observation process outlined in Learning Partners: Sharing Best
Practices through Peer Observation. 8 PD hours.
*After completion of PRFC 3364, Peer Observation of Teaching Orientation, participants will be automatically registered for
PRFC 3364, Peer Observation of Teaching course.
