International Study and Experience

International Service Learning

Semester in Spain!

In Summer A, 2015, Valencia students will have the opportunity to earn service learning credit in Spain. You will live in Spain for 3-6 weeks and work in a public elementary school. You will assist the English teachers with conversation classes and design activities for the children to practice English. You will learn through hands-on workplace experience while developing relationships with people of diverse cultures and lifestyles. You will move out of your comfort zone as you adapt to life in another country and improve your intercultural competence.  You must enjoy working with children and be a native speaker of English.  Some knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not required.  Contact the program leader, Professor Sarah Melanson for more information and an application.

NEW* Project Submission Form

Students completing a service learning project in SLS2940, SLS2940H, or an integrated Service Learning course are encouraged to complete the on-line Project Submission Form. The form will provide details about your service project and the overview may be displayed on our website as an example for future Service Learning students. Additionally, when completing the form you will have an opportunity to type a "thank you" message to your community agency that will be printed on a Valencia thank you card and mailed to your agency with a certificate. Help us say, 'thank you" for all their help this semester!
