My Story:

Ever since I can remember I liked to take apart anything I could find so I could learn how it worked. It’s no surprise that I’m now studying to become a mechanical engineer.

My Internship Experience:

I’m interning at Duane Norman Aviation – we design custom interiors for private aircrafts. After only about a week at my internship, I was offered a full-time position with the company. Now I work about 40 hours a week. I started off as a mechanical drafter, but now I’m an “engineer in training” and get to work directly with the engineers.

How It’s Paying Off:

I’ve gained a lot of confidence because I’ve met so many people who are knowledgeable and powerful in the industry. I’ve gotten to watch how high-tech things work and how money is allocated for big projects.

My Advice:

Don’t be intimidated by people with a higher title than you. You have to realize that they’re just another individual. Just talk to them and listen because they have a wealth of information.

My Future:

After I graduate, I’m going to go to UCF and major in mechanical engineering. My dream is to become the inventor of technology that helps protect our planet and everyone in it. Hopefully one day I’ll be running my own company, developing affordable, non-polluting sources of power for both transportation and home.
