Copyright is a form of legal protection that protects an owner's right to control the reproduction, distribution, performance, display and transmission of a copyrighted work.

Peer-to-Peer File Sharing
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) file sharing is a general term that describes software programs that allow computer users, utilizing the same Peer-to-Peer software, to connect with each other and directly access digital files from one another''s hard drives. Many copyrighted works may be stored in digital form, such as software, movies, videos, photographs, etc.

The transfer and distribution of these works without authorization of the copyright holder is illegal and prohibited.

Valencia’s Plan to Effectively Combat Unauthorized Distribution of Copyrighted Material and Student Sanctions Valencia Community College has established a policy to combat unauthorized Peer-to-Peer file sharing. To view the entire Copyright Policy and Peer-to-Peer File Sharing policy, view Valencia’s Acceptable Use Policy. Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including unauthorized Peer-to-Peer file sharing, may subject students to civil and criminal liabilities and the extent of the possible liabilities.

Additional information regarding compliance is found in the "Student Code of Conduct", the "Acceptable Use of University Computing and Communications Resources", our Site "Terms and Conditions", and other policies contained in the Valencia’s Catalog. The University Catalog may be accessed http://valenciacollege.edu/catalog/
