Office for Students with Disabilities
Resolution of Disability Related Issues or Problems
Even with the best efforts of everyone involved with services for students with disabilities, problems may arise. If you have a problem with a disability related issue please follow these steps.
- Report your problem to the manager/ advisor in the Office for Students with Disabilities on your campus.
- If the OSD manager is not able to help you resolve the complaint, contact the Director of the Office for Students with Disabilites at (407) 582-2236 or dlarew@valenciacollege.edu.
- If the conflict remains, contact the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at (407) 582-4997.
- The final internal step in the grievance process is the Vice President for Student Affairs.
The College will make every effort to resolve conflict by informal means. Throughout any of these procedures the student should expect to be treated with respect and dignity, receive a timely response, and have the issues handled in a confidential manner. The College expects the student to bring up any problems early, give clear and detailed information, follow applicable procedures and be respectful of the people who are involved.
Formal procedures for appealing administrative and academic decisions (6Hx28:8-10) can be found in the College Catalog (available in hard copy and online).
Students may also file a complaint with the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights at: Atlanta Office; U.S. Department of Education; 61 Forsyth St. S.W., Suite 19T70; Atlanta, GA 30303-3104; Telephone: 404-562-6350; FAX: 404-562-6455; TDD: 404-331-7236; Email: OCR_Atlanta@ed.gov .
