Penny Conners, M.S. Ed.

Dean of Allied Health

I started my career at Valencia in August 2010 as the Dean of Allied Health.  I bring over 30 years of experience as an educator and administrator in health sciences with a specific background based in the field of radiology.  Prior to my employment at Valencia, I served as the Assistant Director of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) in Chicago, IL.  Prior to my career at the JRCERT, I spent 25 years at Kaskaskia Community College in Centralia, IL in a variety of positions including radiology professor/clinical coordinator, radiology program director, and Dean of Career and Technical Education.

My Master’s Degree is in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL with a specialization in Workforce, Education, and Training.

 

The Allied Health Division encompasses the programs of Cardiovascular Technology, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Emergency Medical Technology, Paramedic Technology, Radiography – including the Associate of Science and the Bachelor of Radiologic and Imaging Sciences, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Respiratory Care Technology, and Polysomnography Technology.  Allied health professionals consist of a group of health care professionals with formal education and clinical training who must go through the process of national certification and/or state licensure.  Allied health care professionals work closely with physicians and other members of the health care team to deliver high quality patient care. 

This Allied Health Division is comprised of 16 full-time faculty members, over 80 adjunct faculty members, several career staff professionals, and 2 administrative assistants.  This division is committed to serving the needs of the local service community and providing quality educational services.

  • Monitors program budgets and orders all Allied Health supplies
  • Prepares completion certificates for EMT/Paramedic graduates at the end of each semester
  • Prepares Allied Health adjunct contracts
  • Inputs class schedules each semester for all Health Science courses
  • Verifies completion of background checks for all Health Science students
  • Coordinates room assignments for department events
  • Prepares reports on class schedules and faculty assignments by semester

Jeff Hogan, MS

Functional IS Support Specialist

I earned myBachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from University of Central Florida in 1996 and my M.S. in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2008.In 2012 I added a graduate certificate in Psychology. I am an experienced Educational Technologist and Florida Certified Professional Educator and Administrator. I have been working at Valencia College in Orlando, Florida since March of 2007.

For nearly a decade, and before making the transition to higher education I taught K-12 as both a classroom teacher and technology resource teacher. 

As the Functional IS Support Specialist I guide instructional technology for all areas of the Allied Health and Nursing programs on two campuses at Valencia. I'm one of the West Campus representatives for the PSLT and I also serve on the Budget Committee for the college. In 2013 I graduated from the Leadership Academy (now known as Pivot 180) and was elected to be on the board for FCITL (Florida Council for Instructional Technology) which is a K-20 organization that promotes instructional technology throughout the state of Florida.

Lastly I also adjunct in the departments of Education and Psychology.

I am married with two teenagers and two toddlers (the youngest is the only girl). I'm also involved in the men's ministry through my church.
