Professor, Dental Hygiene

I graduated from  Valencia College in 1979.  After graduation, I practiced Dental Hygiene for 29 years.  I started my second career in education at Central Florida Community College, Ocala, Florida as an instructor in a dental assisting program from 1995- 2003 until I joined Valencia as a professor of Dental Hygiene in 2004.

Shortly after graduation at Valencia College, I married my husband of 28 years.  We have raised 3 children, and are the proud parents of 2 dogs, 3 cats and numerous fish.  I enjoy my free time at the beach, reading great books, and sewing.

Professor, Dental Hygiene

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas.  I graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A & M University System, with a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. I have over fourteen years of clinical dental hygiene experience and eight years of education experience.  For the past eight years I have been adjunct faculty here at Valencia in the dental hygiene department.  I am a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA) and the Florida Allied Dental Educators Association (FADE).  Recently, I have gained my certification to administer local anesthesia.  Some of my hobbies include: boating, reading, sewing, photography, and spending time with my family.  I have a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.   I am excited for the opportunity to share my experiences and make a bigger impact on my students.

I have been with Valencia College since 2010. I began with Valencia as a Business/IT Laboratory Aide in the Business, Information Technology & Public Services Department at East Campus. In 2012, I transitioned to a full-time position at the Valencia East Campus Store as a Sales Associate with responsibilities in purchasing for the store as well as being the head of Online Orders for the entire East Campus Store.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in 2011 from Rollins College in Music Performance in Guitar. Since 2010, I have been the vocalist and guitarist in a rock band that plays regularly throughout Central, North, and South Florida. My mother has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and my father practiced Dentistry in their home country of the Philippines.

I am originally from Chicago, Illinois. I’m an avid reader and an animal lover. I believe that the effect that you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.
