Safety Resources

Valencia College is proud to partner with Orlando Health’s Business Ready Taskforce on our Roadmap for Reopening plan. To help with the preparation for a phased approach to reopen our campuses, we have compiled and made available a variety of resource material and videos.

Remember that practicing physical distancing, washing hands frequently, wearing masks that cover the nose and mouth, using proper respiratory etiquette (coughing into elbows, sneezing into tissues that are promptly placed in the trash) and avoiding gatherings of people in close quarters are the best ways to reduce your chances of being exposed to COVID-19 or spreading it to someone else.

Working together, we can have a safe and successful on-campus experience as we follow our Roadmap for Reopening plans.

What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is the disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. This group of viruses is responsible for the common cold as well as more severe illnesses like SARS and MERS. It is highly contagious and spreads by surface contact or respiratory droplets released when someone sneezes, coughs or talks.

Safety and Prevention Resources

Hand Washing

Frequent and proper hand washing is an integral part of reducing the spread of the virus. Valencia is encouraging frequent hand washing and will have hand sanitizer available on campus for times when using soap and water is not available. Find resource material on proper and washing and its benefits, here.

Surface Cleaning

Our Valencia College Facilities team is committed to providing clean and sanitized classrooms and common spaces on campus. The team will follow Orlando Health’s Business Ready Taskforce protocols to maintain a clean environment for working and learning. View the surface cleaning practices and guidelines that the Valencia Facilities team will follow.

Physical Distancing

Physical distancing will be accommodated. We have become accustomed to having our extra space, and you are welcome to ask others to provide you extra room if you need it. In addition, our plans for reduced class sizes (meaning fewer students on campus) coupled with approved, flexible work arrangements will mean that the population density on campus will already be significantly lower than in a “regular” semester.

Face Masks

To protect ourselves and each other, all employees, students and vendors on campus will still be required to wear face masks that cover the mouth and nose while indoors. Masks are welcome outdoors but are not required.

Socially Smart: Managing COVID

Keeping yourself and your family safe is a top priority. Learn how you can manage COVID-19 and help maintain a healthy environment as our communities gradually reopen.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates the combination of getting vaccinated and following the CDC’s recommendations is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
