Meet the Staff
Dir, Institutional Effectiveness
Darren Smith has worked in higher education in both faculty and administrative roles. Prior to coming to Valencia, Darren taught biology and was the Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Sampson Community College in Clinton, NC, and was an Education Policy Fellow at the University of North Carolina General Administration.
Darren earned his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan, his master’s degree in biological sciences from Western Michigan University, and is currently in a doctoral program in educational research and policy analysis at North Carolina State University.
Noelia Maldonado Rodriguez
Coord, Institutional Advancement
Noelia Maldonado Rodriguez serves as the Coordinator of Institutional Advancement at Valencia College. She joined Valencia in 2008 in the Institutional Advancement and Planning department. In the Fall 2018, she moved under Institutional Effectiveness where she primarily supports the work of the college’s impact plan, faculty credentialing, and continued SACSCOC compliance. She currently serves on Valencia’s Collegewide SACSCOC Oversight Committee, and helped coordinate two new campus site visits and one SACSCOC decennial review.
Noelia holds an A.A. in General Education and multiple certifications in Business Management from Valencia College, as well as a B.A. in Psychology from University of Central Florida.
Program Support Specialist
Tana Damian started with Valencia in 2012 and previously worked in Faculty Development and Institutional Assessment before joining the Institutional Effectiveness team in 2017. Tana primarily supports the work of the college’s impact plan and continued SACSCOC compliance.
Tana holds an A.A. from Valencia and a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education from UCF.
