Study Abroad

Each year, the Valencia Honors Program offers a one-credit study abroad class, IDH2955 - "Honors Study Abroad." Honors faculty lead an intense international experience to a different country.

In March 2019, Professors Val Woldman and Jamie Prusak will lead a trip to the Netherlands. The trip will include a service learning component and hours earned will count toward a service learning distinction at graduation. For more information visit Valencia Study Abroad.

Honors Calendar

Co-curricular Activities

Each fall and spring semester, honors students engage in a robust schedule of activities that promotes learning outside of the classroom through academic enrichment, community service, exposure to the arts, career development, and social networking. The co-curricular experience is an integral part of the honors experience and is required as part of our graduation distinction criteria.

Honors Co-curricular Principles

  1. The activity must provide a unique engagement opportunity,
  2. The activity has a substantive learning component that supports an Honors class or program outcome
  3. The activity adheres to Valencia’s Policies and Procedures and the Seneff Honors College Honor Code

We encourage participation in any activity that sparks a student’s interest. However, our graduation distinction criteria requires students to attend pre-approved events in their entirety and submit Co-curricular Reflection Forms by the deadline.

Service Learning

Service Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. Service Learning allows students and faculty to blend educational goals with their passions. Honors students can earn honors credit for Service Learning experience and have the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary connections between different fields of study and thought.
