About the Testing Center

Mission Statement

Testing and Accessibility Services is a shared space for the following offices

  • Testing and Assessment Services
  • Office for students with Disabilities (OSD)
  • Student Accessibility Services (SAS)

The Downtown Campus Testing and Accessibility Services is a shared space to inform students, faculty, staff and the community about testing and accessibility services. Our center strives to provide a secure and conducive environment to support an optimal testing experience during placement testing and course testing throughout a student's educational journey. We adhere to the Professional Standards and Guidelines set forth by the National College Testing Association (NCTA) and maintain active involvement in the Florida Association of College Test Administrators (FACTA).

We are also committed to the fulfillment of equal educational opportunity, autonomy, and full inclusion for students with disabilities. We view disabilities as an integral part of the rich diversity at the Downtown Campus. To that end, we work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to create an inclusive educational environment for students.

Taking a Course Test

Course testing is determined by your professor. If your professor requires you to take your exam in the Testing and Accessibility Center, please review the important information below!

  • You will be required to make an appointment for your test 24 hours in advance of your desired test date.
  • If you have an accommodation that requires a separate room, alternate test format, scribe or reader, you must make your appointment at least 5 days in advance to ensure the Testing and Accessibility Staff can prepare for your arrival appropriately.
  • Students with accommodations who have not previously tested at the Center need to email osddtc@valenciacollege.edu before setting their appointment.
  • On test day, you will need to present your student ID card or government issued photo ID that is valid (state ID/license or a federal ID: passport, permanent resident card, employment authorization card, tribal ID card, certificate of naturalization etc.).
  • You must review the Testing and Accessibility Rules prior to test day.
  • We ask that you arrive at least 15-minutes in advance of your scheduled appointment time. This will give you an opportunity to check-in and receive instructions prior to beginning your test. The amount of time you are asked to arrive at the center before your scheduled appointment time may differ depending on which test you are schedule to take. You will receive an appointment confirmation email with detailed information.
  • If you are more than 15-minutes late for your scheduled course exam, testing staff may have you reschedule. Your professor may have a stricter policy regarding late arrivals.
  • If you do not show up for your scheduled course exam, you will need to reschedule if your professor allows an additional attempt.
