Musical Theatre
The Musical Theatre program at Valencia is a selective program that requires an audition for admission. Audition date, application deadline and other details are on the Auditions page. Students that are not selected for the program are considered to be “provisional.” The provisional status allows students to take classes at Valencia that will provide further training to help the students have a successful audition the following year. In addition, provisional students can work to complete general education courses that are required for the AA degree.

In collaboration with the Dance, Music and Theatre programs, the musical theater degree offers production opportunities throughout the year, including two musicals, two Opera Theater Workshop performances and a student lead dance concert. Productions are held on the East Campus, in our 500 seat Performing Arts Center and our more intimate Black Box Theater. Along with the musical theatre productions, students will have multiple opportunities to participate in additional theatre, music and dance offerings available at the School of Arts & Entertainment.
The goal of the Associate in Arts in Musical Theatre Program is to provide quality professional training in theatre, music and dance through a variety of classroom and performance opportunities resulting in a strong foundation for a continued professional training experience. Our Degree Pathway emphasizes technical and performance proficiency to best prepare the student to audition for a bachelor's degree program in the arts as well as to become a working artist in the field.
