Valencia Engaging for Completion Through Opportunities in Research

Valencia Engaging for Completion Through Opportunities in Research (VECTOR) is an S-STEM project supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) with the intent to provide students pursuing a STEM education with scholarships, support from discipline-specific faculty mentors, the VECTOR team, and Valencia College academic resources. In addition, this project provides VECTOR scholars with immersive research experiences at Valencia College leading to an Undergraduate Research Graduation Distinction, networking opportunities, and preparation for transfer to a four-year institution.

Eligibility

  • Provide documentation of U.S. citizenship, permanent resident, or refugee status
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrate an interest in STEM
  • Indicate intent to show satisfactory participation in program activities
  • Declare a STEM Meta-Major
  • Full-time enrollment at Valencia College

Selection Criteria

  • Personal Interview
  • Personal Statement
  • Evidence of Prior Interest/Experience in STEM
  • Recommendation letter(s)
  • Student GPA
  • Standardized Test Scores (SAT, ACT, Florida End of Course, FCAT, PERT)
