Advisory Councils & Partnerships
One of our most important missions is to provide students with career programs that respond to the defined needs of the community. We partner with Orange and Osceola county school districts, Metro Orlando Economic Development Council, Osceola County Economic Development, and our valuable Advisory Council members. These groups are made up of experts in the community who provide a unique perspective and an informed viewpoint from their field.
Advisory Councils
Valencia College's industry advisory councils are designed to assist the college in the long-range planning of programs, reviewing curriculum for relevance to the changing needs of the community, and in providing insight into the employment needs in Orange and Osceola counties. Advisory Councils help to create cooperative relationships with local businesses, professional organizations, government agencies, and corporations. Valencia College has 31 unique industry advisory councils with over 600 business and industry leaders from the community. Advisory Councils play a crucial role in assisting in the long-range planning of career programs, curriculum validation, providing insight into the employment needs and trends in Orange and Osceola Counties, and helping to ensure that our Career Workforce Education programs remain relevant to the changing needs of the community. The significance of the work of Advisory Councils is in fully engaging the interdependence economic development and academic training of a quality workforce. With the expertise of academicians and practitioners, Valencia strives to ensure that graduates will be capable of performing technician-level skills effectively in an ever-changing job market.
Partnerships
In an ongoing effort to be responsive to the business community Valencia builds relationships to strengthen academic scholarship and economic development. Working with high schools, tech centers, and higher education institutions, and corporate partners Valencia has hundreds of corporate education/training partnerships. Some of these relationships include: Florida Hospital, Orlando Health, Bright House, Orlando Utilities Commission, Northrop Grumman, Hyatt Grand Cypress, Universal, SeaWorld and Walt Disney World. Valencia has been recognized by the National Alliance of Business for its "effective and innovative leadership" in meeting the workforce needs of business and industry.
