Study Abroad and Global Experiences (SAGE)

What is Study Abroad and Global Experiences?

Valencia College’s office of Study Abroad and Global Experiences (SAGE) prepares students to live, work, and collaborate effectively in a global community by providing learning experiences that promote an understanding of cultural diversity and develop intercultural competency. SAGE provides year-round global learning experiences and programs for students and faculty, including on-campus events, virtual exchanges, global guest speakers, short-term in-bound programs, Global Distinction and internationalization of the curriculum.

Why get involved?

Global Learning and study abroad provide a unique academic and cultural experience that will expand your worldview and, quite possibly, contribute to your future professional development by positively impacting your academic and career path. Global learning cultivates internationally oriented faculty and students while building cross-cultural awareness and understanding. Exposing students to the attitudes and skills of global citizenship fosters compassion, empathy, and respect for others. Global learning improves academic quality as it diversifies the learning environment.

In today’s global workforce, having a foundation in global learning aids in employability post-graduation. Workplaces prize employees that have the skills, knowledge, and attitudes as those students who develop strong global mindsets. Due to this, students that participate in study abroad programs are less likely to experience prolonged unemployment after graduating.
