Individual AI Learning Fund

Valencia College is pleased to announce the Individual AI Learning Fund, a new professional development opportunity supporting employee growth in artificial intelligence knowledge and skills. This fund supports various learning formats including conferences, workshops, courses, and seminars focused on AI in higher education. Available on a rolling basis during this fiscal year, the fund aims to enhance both individual capabilities and institutional knowledge through shared learning experiences.

Prerequisites to Apply

Before submitting an application, employees must:

  • Complete the Information Security at Valencia College Training (Available through Valencia EDGE portal)
  • Complete a LinkedIn Course focusing on legal, ethical, and responsible AI use in higher education
  • Complete at least one Professional Development program related to AI within the past year
  • Review Valencia's policies on  Student Records, Cybersecurity Guidelines, and  Contracts
  • Discuss participation with and gain approval from immediate supervisor

  • Review all prerequisites and ensure they are completed
  • Prepare the following information:
    • Project title and description
    • Detailed cost breakdown
    • Brief summary of the learning opportunity's relevance to AI in higher education
    • Explanation of benefits to your role and Valencia College
    • Plan for sharing knowledge with colleagues

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on several key factors:

  • Alignment with Valencia College's strategic goals and mission
  • Potential to enhance AI knowledge applicable to the applicant's role
  • Specific, measurable benefits for the college community
  • Feasibility of implementation and timeline
  • Innovation in solving existing challenges or enhancing current practices
  • Sustainable impact on the college community
  • Budget reasonableness relative to expected outcomes
  • Consideration of ethical, security, and compliance factors
Post-Award Requirements

Selected participants must:

  • Submit a brief report within 30 days of completing the learning opportunity
  • Share insights and materials with department/college community
  • Use funds solely for the approved purpose
  • Communicate any changes promptly to aicommission@valenciacollege.edu
