All full-time employees are required to attend. It is considered a work day, and, if a full-time employee does not attend, a certificate of absence (COA) is required using either vacation or personal time (Staff – 8 hours of leave; Faculty – 7 hours of leave). Full-time employees will be paid for a full day’s worth of work, even if scheduled events end early. Non-exempt employees should work with their supervisors to adjust their work schedules, so they can attend the full day. If a non-exempt employee works any hours over 40, the employee must be paid overtime.

If I am a part-time employee, will I be compensated for attending Learning Day?

We extend our most sincere invitation to our part-time colleagues to attend Learning Day 2024. Part-time staff will be compensated for attendance at their regular rate of pay and individuals should work with their supervisor to have their normal schedule adjusted if they plan to attend. If a part-time staff member does not attend, a COA is not required. Part-time faculty participation in Learning Day is voluntary, and those who choose to attend would do so as a part of their current part-time contract.
