You’re Invited to Learning Day on Friday, February 14, 2020.
Learning Day will provide an increased variety for learning and camaraderie opportunities on East, Osceola and West Campuses. Learning Day will feature an early afternoon keynote presentation on each campus and a special lineup of learning sessions focused on personal and professional development workshops.
We request that employees attend the event at their home campus or a campus within their region. Winter Park employees should attend the East Campus event; Lake Nona and Poinciana employees should attend the Osceola Campus event; Downtown employees should attend the West Campus event; Global, Professional and Continuing Education, School of Public Safety and District Office employees may participate on a campus that best fits their needs.
Learning Day is considered a work day, and all full-time employees are encouraged to attend. Full-time employees not attending should complete a certificate of absence (COA) using either vacation or personal time (staff - 8 hours of leave; faculty - 7 hours of leave). Full-time employees will be paid for a full day of work, even if scheduled events end early. Non-exempt employees should adjust their work schedules, so they can attend the full day.
If a non-exempt employee works over 40 hours within any work week, the employee must be paid overtime. Part-time employees are invited and encouraged (not required) to attend; and should work with their supervisors to adjust their schedules accordingly within the week as to not exceed their scheduled hours.
During the event, be sure to share your experiences and photos by posting to social media using the hashtag, #OurValencia. This is a great way to share your experiences with your colleagues and showcase what you love about Valencia College.
