Creating a Network of Support

The Horizon Scholars - Take Stock in Children Program believes in “creating a village” around each of our students that provides them with the tools they need to live full and happy lives. Each village would not be complete without dedicated and caring members of the community who volunteer their time to mentor our students and advocate for their academic and personal success.

Horizon Scholars - Take Stock in Children Mentors

Horizon Scholars - Take Stock in Children mentors work individually with 9th-12th grade students across all 22 high schools in Orange County.  Provide their student with advice on personal, professional, and academic growth, mentors meet with their student a minimum of twice per month (September – May) for approximately 30-45 minutes each visit. In-person mentoring sessions occur at the student’s high school typically during the student’s lunch break. Virtual mentoring is also available for afterschool sessions.

Horizon Scholars - Take Stock in Children mentors are provided with the training and resources needed to develop meaningful relationships with their student. Throughout the year, a variety of networking events and professional development opportunities are offered for our mentors.
