BE THE ONE TO KNOW WHERE TO TURN.

Confidentiality

The college is committed to providing support to all parties involved in an allegation of discrimination, harassment or related sexual misconduct. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to talk with and receive support from any member of the Valencia College community. It is important to note that while information shared with Valencia College staff is kept private, there are no college employees with legally-protected confidentiality.

For Confidential resources, visit Community Support Resources.

Responsible Employees

This means that college employees are expected to share reports of harassment and discrimination (including sexual assault, interpersonal violence and stalking) with the Title IX Coordinator so that the College can offer appropriate resources and support. Due to this, the college works with various community-based external partners to assist faculty, staff and students with advocacy and trauma informed therapy. These external organizations maintain confidentiality, which means that information shared with designated community professionals will be disclosed only with the individual’s express written permission. Community-based organizations will not share information about an individual (including whether that individual has received services) with anyone, unless there is a continuing threat of serious violence to the patient/client or to others, or there is a legal obligation to reveal such information (e.g., suspected abuse or neglect of a minor).

Individuals seeking to talk to someone about an incident of sexual misconduct or harassment confidentially without making a report to the college or triggering any investigation by the college can utilize various community-based confidential resources.

Responsible Employees

Help keep Valencia College inclusive and safe for all to work and learn.
