The health sciences field offers a diverse range of careers, but they all have a shared goal—to help people. Whether you see yourself as a nurse providing patient care, a radiographer taking X-rays of injured patients, or an EMT responding to accident scenes, Valencia can help you develop the skills and expertise you need to be successful in this high-demand career field.
The A.S. degree prepares you to enter a specialized career field in about two years. It also transfers to the Bachelor of Applied Science program offered at some universities. If the program is “articulated,” it will also transfer to a B.A. or B.S. degree program at a designated university.
Developed in collaboration with some of the top employers and industry leaders in the area, Valencia's business programs will immerse you in the latest business theories and practices. From learning to run your own business, to mastering accounting, to providing office support, we'll give you the foundation you need to enter this diverse field.
Whether you are building houses, websites, mobile apps, laser systems or computer networks, you will need the analytical skills and technological expertise to do the job. Valencia has a wide variety of programs that will teach you to solve problems using science and technology as your tools. And with high-tech equipment, internships and advanced laboratories, getting your degree or certificate will be a hands-on adventure.
For fledging chefs, hoteliers, restaurant managers and tourism professionals can get a first class education at Valencia. Our programs stress hands-on experience, which you’ll get through internships as well from the banquet rooms, commercial-sized instructional kitchen, dynamic point-of-sale system, and hotel front desk simulation area housed on the West Campus. From meeting planning to menu planning, we’ll help you prepare for a career in this exciting industry.
These days, companies from every industry depend on IT professionals—for technical support, maintaining their websites and keeping their systems running and secure. At Valencia, you’ll get the hands-on training you need to enter this diverse job field. All core classes are taught in state-of-the-art computer labs with the most popular software and hardware, while internships provide first-hand experience working within an IT department.
Through the Valencia College A.S. degree program in Plant Science and Agricultural Technology, you can focus on either landscape (design, construction and maintenance) or horticulture (greenhouse and nursery operations). The A.A. transfer plan provides the foundational science courses you’ll need to transfer to a four-year horticulture program. Either way, you’ll learn about everything from plant propagation to greenhouse construction through labs, field trips, internships and greenhouses on both East and West Campuses
Valencia's Nursing program is limited-access, meaning that admission to the college does not imply acceptance to the Nursing program. Students must apply and be accepted to the program. Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam to become a registered nurse (RN).
Valencia College's School of Public Safety provides comprehensive education, training and resources for our communities' first responders. It houses three major program areas: Criminal Justice, Fire Rescue and Safety and Security. Our law enforcement and corrections academies and fire science academy and minimum standards class for fire fighters meet Florida's training requirements and qualify students to take the state certification exams within their field. We also offer industry certifications and advanced specialized training, as well as two-year Associate in Science (A.S) degrees in Criminal Justice and Fire Science Technology.
