At Valencia College, we’re redefining workforce education so that it’s less linear. Rather than ask students to finish two or four years of college and then go into the workforce, we are arming students with credentials and nationally recognized certifications so they can go into the workforce and, if they choose to do so, they can come back and continue to build upon their credentials.

After retiring from the Jamaican military, Carlington Brissett wanted to explore a culinary career. At Valencia College, he was among the first students to take classes at the Walt Disney World Center for Culinary Arts & Hospitality at the Valencia College Downtown campus. Today, he's chef de partie at the flagship restaurant in the Ritz-Carlton Orlando.

The son and grandson of carpenters, Kyle Scharfenberg was always interested in skilled trades. And now, Scharfenberg has completed Valencia's welding program and, thanks to Osceola Prosper, is working on an associate degree.
