School of Health Sciences

The School of Health Sciences at Valencia College serves the growing Orlando metropolitan area as a talent pipeline for healthcare professionals across the spectrum of specialties. Central Florida is home to major healthcare systems, research and development efforts, national training and rehabilitation centers and more. With an ongoing need for nurses, clinicians, technicians and others to staff the area’s range of medical and medical-related organizations, the School of Health Sciences serves a vital purpose by preparing a well-trained pool of healthcare professionals.

Programs

Valencia College School of Health Sciences offers Associate in Science (A.S.), Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Technical Certificates, Advanced Technical Certificates, and Accelerated Skills Training programs in health-related fields. The School fosters consistency and interdisciplinary focus. An important aspect of our programs is our single point of contact approach which supports direct access between our students and our health care industry partners.

Associate in Science

An A.S. degree can be earned in as little as two years. Coursework includes general education requirements. Programs include:

Outlook

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in healthcare occupations is expected to rise by 16% from 2020 – 2030, with some 2.6 million new jobs created. Attrition will also drive health science job growth. For instance, 15% of dental hygienists in the state are expected to retire in the next five years. Health science career wages are higher than the national average.

Locations

As a School of Health Sciences student, you can take many of your classes on any Valencia College campus, in the field or online. The largest concentration of the School’s available courses is found on Valencia College West Campus, with classrooms and labs featuring state-of-the-art equipment to accurately simulate real-life patient care scenarios.
