The mission of the program is to prepare students to live and work in an interdependent and multicultural world, while having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a competent global citizen.
By the end of the program students will be able to...
Complete the Intent to Graduate with Global Distinction online submission form before the application deadline for your term of graduation.
Submit Intent to GraduateProspective students can choose between two pathways for completion of the program.
Tier #1 – Global Ambassador
To become a Global Ambassador, students are required to complete Milestones 1 and 2 in the Global Distinction Canvas space.
Upon completion of Tier #1, the SAGE Office will provide students with a certificate of completion, a small graduation gift, and would be glad to provide a letter of recommendation for any future endeavors. Please see the Global Ambassador Handbook for more details.
Tier #2 – Global Citizen
To become a Global Citizen, students are required to complete Milestones 1-3 in the Global Distinction Canvas space.
Upon completion of Tier #2, the SAGE Office will provide students with a certificate of completion, a small graduation gift, and would be glad to provide a letter of recommendation for any future endeavors. In addition, students will receive a medallion that can be worn at graduation and a Global Distinction notation on their official transcript. Please see the Global Citizen Handbook for more details.

The History of the Distinction
The goal of Global Distinction is to prepare students to live and work in an interdependent
and multicultural world, while having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a competent
global citizen. The program, therefore, provides Valencia College students with the
opportunity to learn and practice the principles of how to live in and contribute
to a growing interdependent and multicultural world. Its brief history, reflects not
just the dedication of a group of faculty and administrators to bring this program
into fruition, but also Valencia College's commitment to global learning and experiences.
