While campuses are closed, please wait until the library reopens to return borrowed materials and equipment. All fees and fines for library materials due during the closure will be waived.
How to Borrow Books and Other Items from the Library when Campus is Open
Find the item or items you would like to borrow from the library. Ask a library staff member for help if you are unsure how to locate an item.
Items Available for Check-Out
The library's circulating collection consists of books and media, which are usually loaned for a 21-day period. Reserve materials consist of devices, textbooks, books, solution manuals, magazine articles, sample tests and other materials. The reserve materials loan period varies from 1 hour to 7 days. Specific items available may vary by campus. Valencia students may have a maximum of 25 items checked out on their account.
Bring the item(s) you wish to check out to the Circulation/Check-Out Desk with your Valencia ID (VID) card. Your Valencia ID card is your library card, and the number on the back of your card is your Borrower ID number. Students must be enrolled in classes during the current semester to be able to check out and borrow materials.
Renewals of circulating materials may be requested and received by the library ON or BEFORE the due date. Most library materials may be renewed online by using My Account (find it on the library search page) or by visiting the Circulation/Check-Out Desk in the library. Reserve materials may not be renewed.
Borrowed materials, except for Reserve materials, may be returned to any campus library. (Reserve materials must be returned to the campus that owns them.) Library materials need to be returned on or before the due date or an overdue fine will be assessed.
Materials are discharged from the borrower's account as soon as they are processed by the library where they have been returned, unless there is damage to the item. Additional fees may be assessed for damaged materials. Please refer to the fine schedule listed in the Borrowing and Circulation Procedure Document.
Borrowers can access information about the status of their library accounts by logging in to Atlas, clicking on Search the Library and then clicking on My Account in the upper right-hand corner.
