Getting Started

A brief introduction to Canvas

Whether this is your first time taking a course online — or your hundredth — this resource guide is here to make online learning as simple as possible. We use a tool called Canvas to provide you with online courses and track your progress. In Canvas, your faculty can assign and grade assignments, as well as communicate with you throughout the term. Just like in face-to-face classes, your faculty are available to support, guide and teach you online. They will upload readings and assignments on Canvas and may even upload recorded lectures.

Accessing Canvas

Accessing Canvas is simple and doesn’t require you to download anything. All you need to do is visit online.valenciacollege.edu and log in using your Atlas username and password.

Canvas Tutorial

We encourage you to participate in our Canvas 101 tutorial. It’s a self-paced, 35-minute course that introduces you to Canvas and the features you’ll rely on for online learning, such as how to view and submit assignments, and check your grades. Participate at Canvas 101.
