| Do I need to make an appointment to take the PERT? |
- Yes, appointments are required for on campus testing.
- Appointments are not needed to take the PERT virtually. If you wish to take the PERT
virtually, please visit the PERT Virtual Testing section of our Future Dual Enrollment Student page.

| Who do I contact if I am having issues with the Virtual PERT process? |
- If you are having issues with the Virtual PERT process, respond to the email you received
entitled “YOUR PERT ASSESSMENT” or send an email to: pertteam@valenciacollege.edu and reference your VID#.

| What do I need to bring to test? |
- A physical government ID is the only required item. The ID must be a valid (non-expired)
government issued photo ID or a school ID.
- School IDs will only be accepted when presented with birth certificate OR social security
card.
- Photos of IDs (from a device or printed copies) will not be accepted
- Personal items are not permitted in the testing lab. You will be provided any required
testing materials.
- NO food, drinks, backpacks or purses are allowed in the testing lab. Please try to
avoid bringing these items on your testing date.

| What if I do not have a government issued photo ID or High School ID? |
- A physical government-issued ID required to test. You will not be permitted to test
without an acceptable ID.
- Acceptable forms of ID include: driver’s license, State or federal ID (such as a Green
Card), passport, naturalization card or certificate of citizenship
- School IDs will only be accepted when presented with birth certificate OR social security
card
- Photos of any IDs (from a device or printed copies) will not be accepted.

| How long does it take to complete the PERT? |
- The PERT is untimed; however, most testers take on average around two and a half to
three hours to complete the full PERT (Reading, Writing and Math).
- Each individual PERT section typically takes most test takers about one hour to complete.

| How many questions are there/what subjects are on the PERT? |
- The PERT consists of three sections: Reading, Writing, and Math. Each section has
30 questions, and all the questions are multiple choice.

| Can I use my own calculator on the PERT or AAF? |
- No. A built-in, digital calculator will be provided for you on certain questions in
the Math section.

| Is there a fee to take the PERT? |
- Prospective dual enrollment students taking the PERT for the first time at Valencia
College may do so free of charge on their first attempt.
- Retakes are $10 per section per attempt.
- An attempt is considered a retake if you have already taken the specific PERT section
before at Valencia College (whether virtually or on a Valencia College campus) within
the last two years.
- If you haven’t taken the PERT at Valencia College in the past two years, your test
will count as a first attempt and will be free of charge.
- You are allowed three PERT attempts per section with Valencia College within a two
year period.

| Can I retake the PERT if I need/want to? |
- A student is allowed three PERT attempts, per section, at Valencia College within
a two year period.
- You must wait at least one day between each attempt to retake.

| Do my PERT scores expire? |
- Your PERT scores are valid for two years. If you have not started classes within the
two years, you have the option to test again for placement.

| When do I get my PERT scores? |
- You will see your scores immediately after completing your test, on the last testing
screen.
- If you are taking the PERT on site at any of the Valencia College campuses, the scores
will be added to your student account immediately following your testing session.
- If you take the PERT virtually, you’ll see your scores right after finishing. It may
take up to three business days for scores to appear in your student account, since
the Testing & Assessment office must review and validate your virtual session.

| Are there any study or practice materials for the PERT? |

| I have my SAT/ACT/CLT scores. Can I send you a copy? |
- Valencia College will not accept paper copies of SAT, ACT, or CLT scores. SAT, ACT,
or CLT scores must be sent electronically to Valencia College from Collegeboard, ACT, or CLT.
- It can take up to two weeks to receive and process your SAT/ACT scores. If you took
it at your high school, the timeline for Valencia College to receive your scores may
vary.
- It can take up to five business days for CLT scores to be received and processed.
- TIP: While taking the SAT, ACT, or CLT be sure you select Valencia College as a score
recipient.

| I took the PERT at my high school; how can I send the scores to Valencia College? |
- High school PERT scores will only be accepted electronically from your school district.
After submitting your dual enrollment application for the current cycle, no further
action is needed - Valencia College will collect your high school PERT scores from
the school district. Speak to your school counselor to ensure your scores are sent
to Valencia College via your school district.

| What scores should I have on my SAT/ACT/CLT to be exempt from the PERT? |
- Review the Eligible Test Scores Chart to determine if you need to take the PERT for math and/or English to meet minimum
score requirements for program admission.

| When is the deadline to take the PERT? |
- When applying for Dual Enrollment, there are specific deadlines you must meet in order
to be considered for admission. Ensure you check the Dual Enrollment website for these specific deadlines.
